Hungry Ghost Festival returns to San Francisco Chinatown on August 23, 2025.

For the 3rd Annual Hungry Ghost Festival in 2025, we will embrace the theme, “Demons of Our Times.” As we bear witness to the rise of sadly time-tested ‘rituals’ of hate—demonizing immigrants, rationalizing terror, and erasing history. The ghosts we once feared now wear new faces. Through traditional and contemporary arts, we are summoning the festival’s original charge: remembrance, resistance, and cathartic release to confront our demons and banish them once and for all.
