SF’s “Conservatory of Flowers” Free First Tuesdays (Golden Gate Park)

COVID UPDATE – The Conservatory of Flowers will reopen to visitors beginning Thursday, October 1 with modifications in place to ensure public safety and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Whether you’re a native San Franciscan, a visitor from the other side of the world, or a budding botanist, the Conservatory of Flowers located in Golden Gate Park, offers an intimate, up-close experience with nearly 2,000 species of rare, exotic and endangered plants from more than 50 different countries.

Opened in 1879, the wood and glass greenhouse is the oldest existing conservatory of its kind in the Western Hemisphere.

Free Admission Day

Admission is normally $7 for SF residents ($10-12 for everyone else), but it’s free to all visitors on the first Tuesday of every month.

The Conservatory will also continue offering free or reduced admission through Museums for All, a program to bring free or reduced admission to San Francisco residents who receive public benefits, including Medi-Cal and CalFresh.

Hours:

Tuesday-Sunday 10 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. – Last entry at 6 p.m. (Closed Mondays)

Please note that closing times change with the season.

  • March 16 – October 15 – Close at 6:30 p.m.
  • October 16 – March 15 – Close at 4:30 p.m.

For opening week, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on October 1 – October 8, members can enjoy the tranquility of the galleries with exclusive member-only hours
