SF’s Free Outdoor Screen-Printing Pop-ups “Heart Your Parks” (2024)

‘Heart Your Parks’ Screenprinting Pop-Ups Return To Raise Funds For San Francisco Parks

The popular art giveaway events are returning for the second year to celebrate city parks and raise $50,000 to support these spaces.

DATE UPDATE – Due to weather, the screenprinting pop-ups return for 2024 starting April 6th instead of March 30th

The annual spring campaign showcases the love that San Franciscans have for the city’s parks and public spaces through free art giveaways and fundraising to support these spaces.

  • ‘Heart Your Parks’ is an annual SF Parks Alliance campaign to showcase the love that San Franciscans have for the city’s parks and public spaces through free events and fundraising to support these spaces.

  • ‘Heart Your Parks’ will bring screen printing pop-ups to a different park each Saturday from April 6-27. See below for the full schedule.

  • In celebration of SF parks, each event will feature a limited edition print specific to the park the event takes place in, designed by local artist Orlie K., that celebrates the unique character of the park. The prints are part of the same family as the four prints from last year.

  • New this year, the April 27th will start with a volunteer clean-up along Bayview-Hunters Point’s Cargo Way, where SF Parks Alliance plans to make future landscaping improvements to the road’s median.

  • Each ‘Heart Your Parks’ event is free and open to the public. Prints will also be free, but donations to support San Francisco parks are encouraged.

Kicking off on Saturday, April 6, SF Parks Alliance will bring back the popular Heart Your Parks screen printing pop-ups to a different park for four consecutive Saturdays leading up to Earth Day weekend. Each event will feature a screen printed design specific to the park the event takes place in. These designs are the second set of Heart Your Parks screen prints made by local artist Orlie K. to celebrate the unique character of iconic San Francisco parks. All Heart Your Parks events will feature live jazz music and free beverages provided by Guayaki.

New this year, the April 27th will start with a volunteer clean-up sponsored by Kaiser Permanente along Bayview-Hunters Point’s Cargo Way, where SF Parks Alliance plans to make future landscaping improvements to the road’s median. Kaiser Permanente employees will participate in the clean up, but anyone is encouraged to attend.

“We were blown away by the amount of people who couldn’t wait to get their hands on these prints last year. The funds we raised enabled us to do really impactful work, and we’re hoping San Francisco comes out to do it again,” said Drew Becher, CEO of SF Parks Alliance.

Attendees can visit each Heart Your Parks event to receive a free print with a recommended donation. SF Parks Alliance members will also have the option to create their own screen prints on provided paper. Those interested in creating their own print can sign up to become an SF Parks Alliance member at the events or become a member online in advance if they’re not already.

SF Parks Alliance aims to raise $50,000 through Heart Your Parks, which will ensure that the organization can continue to build and renovate parks, host free public events, and advocate for parks and public spaces across San Francisco that are welcoming and belong to everyone. All donors who give $50 or more online will also receive a Heart Your Parks sticker featuring one of the four park designs. Donations toward the campaign can be made at secure.sfparksalliance.org/HYP.

The first Heart Your Parks campaign was launched in 2020 during the height of the pandemic and introduced social distancing hearts to parks across San Francisco. Heart Your Parks returned in 2022 as a large flower heart installation at Alamo Square Park. In 2023, SF Parks Alliance introduced screenprint giveaways at Heart Your Parks with an inaugural set of prints for Alamo Square Park, Duboce Park, Golden Gate Park, and Washington Square Park.
