Event Details

William Powers, author of the “green living” bestseller 12×12, will read from his new book, New Slow City. After spending a season living off the grid in a twelve-by-twelve-foot cabin in North Carolina, Powers takes his sustainable, “slow” living approach to one of the busiest cities in the world: New York. Eschewing the burdensome culture of “Total Work,” chucking 80% of his belongings and scaling down to a 20-hour workweek, Powers and his wife explore the viability of living simply in a demanding urban environment — an inspiration to those who are trying to make city life more people- and planet-friendly.
