“NightLife” at California Academy of Sciences | Thursdays

Enjoy music, creatures, and cocktails as you set out with friends on a journey to the stars and the depths of the sea. Featuring a new theme each week, after-hours access to all exhibits, and special programming, NightLife is your ticket to the nocturnal side of the Academy.

At NightLife, smart revelers receive special discounted evening admission to the California Academy of Sciences on Thursday evenings with unique special events each week.

  • Thursdays from 6-10 pm / 21+ with valid ID
  • Advanced tickets for Nightlife range from $12 to $25 and are subject to dynamic pricing and may change daily – read more about “Plan-Ahead Pricing” – Updated May 2019
  • Planetarium passes additional $3 for the 7:30, 8:30, and 9:30 shows and can be purchased online. (The 6:30 pm planetarium show is always free and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.)
  • Last entry is 9pm.
  • Last entry to the rainforest dome is 7:45pm

Choreographer Katerina Wong presents Speck – a dance performance about humans, space exploration, and the connections between them – using sounds from the Voyager Golden Record and other NASA missions.

Virtual Space Station
(East Pavilion)

Explore the future of space virtually with one of Dream Logic’s experiential VR art shows.

Going Further
(Project Lab)

The NorCal Mars Society will bring a replica of the hard-working, selfie-taking Mars Rover. Plus, visit with Berkeley Space Sciences Lab as they discuss future missions to mars.

Imagine a future with your very own astromech droid when the Bay Area R2 Builders swing by with R2-D2 and friends.

Then, visit with NASA Ames Research Center and Lead Biosentinal Project Scientist, Dr. Sharmila Bhattacharya to learn more about a spaceflight experiment that will measure the effects of radiation on biology using yeast cells

Yoga in Space

Will there be yoga on Mars? See what it might be like to do a downward dog while looking out at the cosmos with yoga sessions in “space” with Lauren Cohen. Class is brought to you by Yoga Tree & Yoga Works.

Alien Creations
(Swamp)

Create the extraterrestrial of your dreams with a “draw-your-own-alien” workshop from Paint Pens Collective and test illustrator (and NightLife artist) Nigel Sussman’s imagination with an otherworldly request for him to draw.
