Noise Pop 2020 Music & Art Festival | SF

The Noise Pop Festival is San Francisco’s (and Funcheap’s) favorite indie music and art festival.

Now in its 28th year, Noise Pop has brought early exposure to many emerging artists in the Bay Area and beyond, many of whom have gone on to widespread acclaim like Raphael Saadiq, Benjamin Gibbard, Maya Jane Coles, Best Coast, Duster, Washed Out and Helado Negro.

Over the course of a week, from Monday, February 24 to Sunday, March 1, 2020 transforms the Bay Area into a festival ground with multiple events taking place across the city each night.

Jel, Maus Haus & Grown Kids Radio | Noise Pop 2020 Music & Art Festival | SF

Sparc (San Francisco Patient and Resource Center) and Grown Kids Radio celebrate two years of music showcases with independent artists Jel and Maus Haus, along with Grown Kids Radio selecting your sonic backdrop from 7-10 pm on Thursday, February 27, 2014.

Free, but an RSVP is required. No med card necessary for entry. Noise Pop badge holders do not need to RSVP. 18+

The evening is part of an ongoing live music series that showcases emerging musicians and producers in a non-traditional space for a session of independent sounds and cannabis advocacy.

Jel (Anticon)Crunchy punched-out beats and swells of low-bit atmospherics have become Anticon trademarks, highly sought after by artists around the globe. Jel was one of the first, if not the very first musician to use the a drum machine in live performance like a drum kit with little to no sequencing. Using the pads on the drum machine, Jel plays each snare, bass kick, cymbal and loop with his fingers. And his raps aren’t half bad either.

Maus Haus – San Francisco’s Maus Haus sounds like a confection of Kraftwerk, the Beach Boys, and Sonic Youth, ground up and re-formed into a filet of raw cool. Amid bursts of glitchy noise, dirty drums, and buzzy synthesizers, the band keeps the whole thing fun–with catchy vocals and hypnotic rhythms. The resulting sound is startlingly unique, yet strangely familiar.

Grown Kids Radio – Eclectic, thoughtful and early-adopters are some words that come to mind when Grown Kids Radio is present. Comprised of several San Francisco based, forward-thinking creatives, this crew has conjured a unique recipe for the freshest of musical stews each serving as an audio entree.
