Stanford Summer Jazz Series: Scott Amendola Quartet

Local music fans are gearing up for warm weather and smooth sounds with the arrival of Stanford Shopping Center’s Summer Jazz Series. Performing in the 25th year of the popular, free jazz series are artists such as Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers, Times 4 and Le Jazz Hot Quartet.

The ten-week concert series is hosted by Stanford Shopping Center and produced by SFJAZZ, a leading non-profit jazz organization on the West Coast .

Scott Amendola Quartet – July 28

This quartet is a more traditional “jazz” setting for the masterful Bay Area drummer, but what’s guaranteed is a non-traditional evening of improvised music. Amendola’s quartet, featuring saxophonist Josh Smith, pianist Erik Deutsch and bassist John Shifflett, will be interpreting music from Scott’s recent record, Lift. Nothing is sacred with this band except the idea to keep the music deep and real.
