Event Details

Join us on the 2026 Alameda Legacy Home Tour! Support preservation and spend the day on a lovely island visiting the interiors of seven unique historic homes built from 1925 to 1936, an era in which “Storybook” homes influenced by trends in Hollywood were all the rage.  The homes are all within walking distance of each other in Alameda’s iconic Fernside neighborhood. Built largely on the former site of prominent historical figure A.A. Cohen’s magnificent Fernside estate, it features a unique concentration of homes that romanticized architectural styles borrowed from Medieval, Spanish Colonial, and American Colonial periods.

Save the date!

Sunday, September 20th, 2026 from 10am to 4pm.

The Tour starts in the schoolyard of Edison Elementary (northwest corner of Lincoln and Versailles Avenues) where you will exchange your voucher for an entry wristband, shoe covers, and a keepsake guidebook with detailed architectural and historic information on each of the homes on the tour, neighborhood history, and a detailed map with the tour route.  You can also relax at the café and buy a T-shirt.

Tour volunteers – some dressed in period costumes – will be ready to guide and inform you every step of the way.  Bring your family and friends!

Tickets can be purchased on site on the day of the tour, or online (see below).  When you purchase your tickets online, you’ll receive a voucher as a receipt for your purchase. Print it on paper or save it to your mobile device. On September 20th, check in at the ticket table at the Edison Elementary School playground area to exchange your voucher for your wristband, which will grant you access to the homes.

If you have any questions or need more information, send us an email at events@alameda-preservation.org or give us a call at (415) 889-0754.

The tour is hosted by the Alameda Architectural Preservation Society (AAPS) a nonprofit organization.
