Event Details

Meet the men whose painted portraits are presented in the exhibit. Created by local artist Ghee Phua, the series was inspired by an article Mr. Phua read which stated that a high number of gay seniors experience feelings of depression and loneliness, feeling invisible in a community more focused on youth. Getting older himself and having felt some of the same feelings, Mr. Phua wanted to use his art to address this social issue. After contacting the San Francisco Aids Foundation social support group for men over fifty, he was able to find the eleven men whose portraits make up the series.
