Event Details

The Paint Pens Collective Artist Spotlight Series continues with Stille Nacht (Silent Night), an exclusive showcase of the collaborative work of Mary Syring and Andy Sciazko. This collection of paintings were influenced by Grimm folk lore, German aesthetics, and their shared love of beautiful and disturbing story-telling; the type of stories that keep you awake at night, with both intrigue and fear.

Free, but an RSVP is required.

The opening reception, which will include the release of a limited print gift set, is Friday, December 12th, 6 pm, at San Francisco’s well-known music and art venue, F8 (1192 Folsom Street, San Francisco, CA). Happy Hour drink and food specials in full effect.

Mary Syring’s work is heavily influenced by decorative design, creepy fairy tales, and golden age of illustration artists such as Arthur Rackham, Kay Nielson, Edmund Dulac, and Aubrey Beardsley. Her favorite mediums are ink and gouache.

Andy Sciazko is an illustrator based in San Francisco. Born in Illinois, he migrated to the left coast for school at the Academy of Art University. Fueled by comics, horror movies, and music, Andy’s work punctures the viewer with its unsettling atmosphere, exploring frighteningly strange but beautiful worlds and creatures never seen before.
