We invite you to step back into history at our working steam-powered lumber mill and museum. We will be open to the public for the first time in two years Saturday & Sunday, May 7th & 8th from 10AM-3PM each day! Join us for live demonstrations under the majestic giant redwoods. We offer docent-led tours that describe the mill’s 108-year history and the broader role local lumber mills had in building the Bay Area that we know today. You can also explore the mill, blacksmith shop and gardens at your own pace.
It’s great for kids, history buffs, nature lovers, photographers, and gearheads. The cook shack will be open for delicious lunchtime snacks and meals that you can enjoy on our beautiful redwood picnic grounds. You can also pack a picnic (no alcohol please).
If you take pictures, the best time to record the steam engines is in the morning when the temperature is lowest to show off the steam.
Dress in layers. We are only 7 miles from the Pacific Ocean and temperatures change quickly. Please consider wearing flat shoes. You will be walking on dirt, sawdust and uneven terrain.
This event is free, but please consider helping us continue demonstration runs with your donation to The Sturgeon’s Mill Restoration Project.
