2014 Summer Spin: Skateboarding & DIY Fest | Los Altos

Take your senses for a spin with Helix by Exploratorium and Skateworks who have paired up to kick off the first annual Los Altos Summer Spin, a weekend festival for adults and kids from 10 am to 8 pm on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8, 2014.

Festival events include skateboard clinics and contests, DIY spinning toy workshops, breakdancing, art making and more.

Take your senses for a spin. Helix is hosting a weekend of festivities on State Street between 1st and 2nd Streets.  We are collaborating with several local businesses including Skateworks and Momentum Cycling Studio.

Saturday, June 7, 2014

  • Kids’ Skate Clinic with Skateworks 10:00am-12:00pm
  • Build Spinning Toys 10:00am-4:00pm
  • Spin Class with Momentum Cycling Studio 12:30pm
  • 360º Spinoff Contest with Skateworks 1:30pm
  • Spin Class with Momentum Cycling Studio 2:30pm
  • Printmaking workshop with Luis Marroquin. Carve your own block and make multiple prints in exciting colors! 3:00pm-4:00pm
  • Kickflip Challenge with Skateworks 3:30pm
  • Skateworks Team Demo, signing afterward 4:00pm – 5:00pm

Evening events include a reception for artist Luis Marroquin, a Roller Skating Party (Bring your own Skates) with music by Beatsnrice, and a Spin-related Film Series curated by the Exploratorium Cinema Arts Program from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
