Sunday Assembly: Communty Sing & Meetup | Berkeley

Sunday Assembly is a non-religious congregation that celebrates life. They’ve got the best parts of a church – community, singing, and acts of service – without any of the religious dogma.

They typically meet on the third Sunday of the month to sing, think, listen, laugh, and build community together. They feature speakers from the local science and humanities communities, and they typically offer a way to donate to a local organization.

The Sunday Assembly is a godless congregation started in 2012 by two comedians and performers in England. It is a growing global network of people with the motto to “Live Better. Help Often. Wonder More.”

Our speaker this month will be Noel Navarro, who will talk about The Role of a Humanist Chaplain. Noel was a Humanist Chaplain at the UC Davis Medical Center for two years. His time there was spent providing emotional support for patients, family, and staff.

There will be a short introduction to the chaplaincy as well as his role in the institution. The talk will focus on the conversations we have around death and dying as nonbelievers of various stripes.
