Sunday Streets 2011 Season continues the tradition of visiting diverse communities throughout the City with a variety of routes in different neighborhoods.

2011 events will extend into new neighborhoods and include more diverse program elements that highlight each neighborhood’s unique character and often overlooked community attractions and institutions.

June 12: Bayview / Dogpatch / Potrero Route:

Mendell Plaza — 3rd & Oakdale

  • Free Wall interactive mural by Dept of Public Works and SF Arts Commission
  • Zumba Dance lessons by Bayview YMCA and Gigi Hopkins Hill
  • Break dance demos and lessons with the B-Boy Connection
  • Rock the Bike pedal-powered live music-roving 3rd St in Bayview

Bayview Opera House — 3rd & Newcomb

  • Outdoor stage: live performances, dance and drum workshops, headliner Unidentified Flying Quartet
  • Indoor Stage: Gospel w/ with Bridgette Bailey, Pride of Providence Singers, Rena Guidry
  • Yoga-thon by Dare to Dream ARTS (11 am – 2 pm)
  • Free Bike rentals by Blazing Saddles (1 hour free, ID & deposit required)
  • Free bike tune ups by Sports Basement’s ‘Lube Fairies’
  • Kid’s activities by Bayview YMCA and Jumpstart
  • Bookmobile by Bayview Library

Health & Wellness UCSF Fair:

  • Free dental screenings and fluoride by UCSF School of Dentistry (2-18 only)
  • Health screenings by SF Fire Station 49, Calif. Pacific Medical Center and UCSF
  • ‘The Challenges of Sisterhood’ by Center for Young Women’s Development

2nd Annual Bayview Music Festival — 3rd & Galvez (11:00 AM to 5:00 PM)

  • Live music featuring Juan Escovedo, Ashling Cole (Graham Central Station), Victoria Theodore (Stevie Wonder Band)
  • Arts and crafts vendors
  • Shrimp N’ Grits and church dessert cook-off contests
  • Sunday Streets and Bayview Festival sponsors & community info booths.

Warm Water Cove Activity Area — 3rd & 24th

  • Environmental info and eco arts and crafts activities
  • Kid’s activities by Rebuild Potero
  • Freedom from Training Wheels by SF Bicycle Coalition
  • Live music with 2 Zmooth featuring trumpet prodigy Christian Navarro
  • 2 Zmooth Videos & Music
  • 3rd Street Boxing Gym
  • The Three-Minute Picture Show:  a 30-day, 3-minute filmmaking project for kids ages 6-17 and adults. Sign up. Make a movie. Feel awesome when your film plays on the big screen in front of a live audience.

Rickshaw Bagworks — 22nd & Indiana

  • Bands playing in Woods Yard park:Quin 11:30-12:30
  • Brass Menazeri 1-2
  • Dogpatch 2:30 – 3:30
  • Bike decorating and crafts
  • Rickshaw will be taking photos throughout the day to showcase on a live Flickr Feed
  • Mission Bicycle and Rickshaw Bagworks will be selling special items.

Esprit Park — 18th & 19th and Indiana & Minnesota

Potrero Hill — 18th-17th & Mississippi

  • Thee Parkside (17th/Wisconsin): live music
  • Jackson Playground (17th/Wisconsin): Volunteer Check in, north end of route start

This year’s Sunday Streets calendar features events on the 2nd Sunday of each month from March 20th through October 9th, 2011.
