Sunday Streets 2018: San Francisco’s Street Festival & Block Party
Come dance in the streets with Sunday Streets car-free route along The Western Addition’s main corridors. Fillmore and sections of Fulton and Baker Streets will be open to pedestrians, cyclists, roller-skaters, toddlers, families, seniors and more on September 9.
During World War 2, the area became known as a hub for African American culture, spanning everything from literature to art and music, earning it the nickname ‘the Harlem of the West.’
New this year, Livable City, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development, will host a goods marketplace on Fillmore Street with a focus on providing African American artists and makers a platform to sell in their communities.
Here’s what to check out:
- Lower Fillmore Hub: Shop local vendors with the Sunday Streets open-air Market Square, and partake in fun kids activities with SF Circus Center at Fillmore and Eddy.
- O’Farrell + Fillmore: Kids can climb to the sky with SF Rec and Park’s Mobile Rock Climbing Wall.
- Baker + Hayes Activity Hub: Enjoy a classic block-party vibe, while kids learn to ride a two-wheeler with SF Bike Coalition’s Freedom from Training Wheels. Plus, check out hands-on art activities from Museum of Craft and Design.
- Turk + Fillmore Mini Park: Live music and community resources with The New Community Leadership Foundation.
