Celebrate our milestone with us – Sunday Streets SF returns for its 15th season in 2023 with new event formats in five neighborhoods, plus the 3rd Annual Phoenix Day block party program, inviting all San Francisco residents and visitors to make joyful memories in the streets.
Sunday Streets, San Francisco’s community-powered open streets program, invites all residents and neighbors to celebrate its 15th anniversary, featuring three community block parties, two signature mile-plus routes, and the Third Annual Citywide Phoenix Day. On select Sundays from May to October, Sunday Streets invites every open streets lover to join in the streets and help define community, sustainability, and regenerative economy for the program’s next 15 years.

- Sunday Streets Bayview – May 21st, 2023
5 blocks of car-free fun and recreation on Galvez Ave between Phelps St & Mendell St for the whole family to enjoy.From 12 PM to 5 PM, celebrate Bayview’s roots with free recreational activities hosted by San Francisco Recreation and Parks and Street Soccer USA, STEM learning experiences by Mission Science Workshop and Exploratorium, a live music stage sponsored by Bayview Hunters Point YMCA, and catch health and wellness resources like free flu vaccines and COVID boosters from SF Department of Public Health and free dental checkups by UCSF. The new community block party route will be on Galvez Ave, between Phelps St and Mendell St, Mendell St between Hudson and Fairfax Ave, and Youngblood-Coleman Playground.
- Sunday Streets Tenderloin – June 4th, 2023
2 blocks of car-free fun and recreation in the Tenderloin for the whole family to enjoy. Exact location to be announced soon.- Sunday Streets Mission/Valencia – July 30th, 2023
1+ mile of streets in the Mission for an afternoon of car-free fun for the whole family. As one of the most visited Sunday Streets SF events of all time, Sunday Streets Valencia is one of the Ciclovía (or open streets) routes to take in this season. Taking place on Valencia Street between Duboce Ave and 26th Street, neighbors and visitors alike can enjoy free recreation, health resources, music, dance and more!- Sunday Streets Western Addition – September 24th, 2023
Sunday Streets SF will host the Western Addition Community Block Party, creating a car-free recreational destination in the Western Addition for the whole family to enjoy. Exact location to be announced soon.- Sunday Streets Excelsior – October 15th, 2023
Celebrate the end of Sunday Streets SF 15th anniversary in the Excelsior. Popular with families and music lovers, Sunday Streets Excelsior is one of the Ciclovía (or open streets) routes to walk or roll this season. Taking place on Mission St between Theresa/Avalon St and Geneva Ave, Sunday Streets SF Excelsior is the family fun hub destination for the 3rd Annual Phoenix Day. Neighbors and visitors alike are invited to the Excelsior on Phoenix Day to enjoy free recreation, health resources, music, dance and more!Sunday Streets Phoenix Day – October 15th, 2023
Sunday Streets SF and our partners are sponsoring over 50 block party permits on October 15th, 2023 so neighbors in every district of San Francisco can have fun in the streets and celebrate the 3rd Annual Phoenix Day.
The Phoenix Day Block Party program is specifically for residential block parties 1 block in length without restricted activities like generators and food sales.
We hope you’ll take advantage of the Sunday Streets Phoenix Day block party program to bring play and exercise to your streets with the whole San Francisco community on October 15th, 2023!

Come out to the Sunday Streets 2016 Season Opener in the Mission from 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday, April 10, 2016. The Mission Sunday Streets will take place on Valencia St from 26th St to McCoppin Hub Plaza.
New to 2016, Sunday Streets will be kicking off each route with an Opening Procession lead by Host Neighborhood community groups. Join the celebration with a bedazzled bike, a proud pooch, bubbles or simply a smile. The procession begins at Valencia & McCoppin and will be lead by Carnaval San Francisco.
One of the annual favorites is the day-long BBoy Connection Break Dancing & Graffiti Art Street Fest that will once again take over the Mission District. Stay tuned for specific information about other activities planned along the route.

New to 2016, Sunday Streets is focusing its onsite programming into two Activity Hubs that will group organizations and businesses together to share activities with the community that support healthy lifestyles. The Activity Hubs will feature collaborations with incredible partners across the art, music, and dance worlds, along with health, fitness, cycling and animal groups.
Highlights include free demos from Bay Area Bike Share and its expanded bike share network, basketball with the Golden State Warriors, live music, dance classes and performances, free blood pressure screening and informative installations by community groups like the St. Francis Homeless Challenge, which invites everyone to help find a solutions for our homeless neighbors need for access to shelter, hygiene and other vital services. The SFMTA is also staging a new 60’ bus to showcase the latest Muni Forward transit enhancements and Van Ness Improvement Project updates at the season launch of Sunday Streets.
