At the Piedmont Avenue Stroll you can expect to see a variety of art mediums, enjoy entertainment, and sample refreshments with many businesses showcasing hand-picked local artists and designers.

The monthly event was voted Best Art Walk That’s Not Art Murmur by the East Bay Express, so come out to see what the fuss is all about. Admission and parking are free, and plentiful throughout the area after 6 pm.

Every month features a slew of art openings, musical performances and other special treats. Check out their Facebook page to plan your night.

On the night of the event, pick up a map at participating businesses. Collect a stamp from ten participating businesses and be eligible to win raffle prizes — including gift certificates and fun merchandise.

Afro-Latin & Moroccan Live Music | Cancelled: Third Thursday Piedmont Avenue Stroll | Oakland

Two exciting bands that will be playing for the June Stroll from 6:30-8:30 pm on Thursday, June 19, 2014.

Performing at Key Route Plaza is Lokrú – members from bands Makrù and LoCura. Direct from San Francisco and Oakland, Lokru’ taps into the diverse sounds that have a rich history in the Bay Area, weaving them together in an uncanny way to reveal their common roots, mixing Flamenco with Reggae and Cumbia with Ska through contagious rhythms and multiple languages

Performing at Piedmont Plaza is Yeye Suarez. Afro-Latin fusion defines the rhythms of the YeYe Ensemble and their music incorporates many of the most vibrant Latin American musical traditions. Comprised of internationally renowned musicians, the YeYe Ensemble transforms and unites the music of Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Cuba and Brazil to offer a dynamic performance with a unique ability to engage people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds.

June’s Featured Merchant: Sahara – Morrocan Home Decor will be featuring 15% off on leather Babouche items plus hosting Bouchaib Abdelhadi playing Moroccan music.
