ICA SF and California College of the Arts are thrilled to partner again this year to present For the Time Being, a pop-up exhibition by first year students in the CCA Master’s of Fine Arts program. Student artists are taking over both floors of ICA SF from April 2nd-6th, responding creatively to the unique architecture of 345 Montgomery.
Originally conceived as a tribute to the late CCA MFA Fine Arts Program Chair Peter Simensky, this partnership between ICA SF and CCA celebrates the next generation of artists and exposes student work to a wide public audience. For The Time Being is an ambitious survey of cutting-edge practices from sculpture, painting, and photography to video, installation, and performance. These students bring provocative and sensitive approaches to contemporary art, addressing urgent subjects like mourning and displacement, the body, existential dilemmas, altered landscapes, and craft as storytelling.
