Our weekly summer concerts in the Healdsburg Plaza from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. provide an eclectic and unique line-up of bands, and have been assembled to please a wide array of musical interests. Food vendors will be on-hand to offer locally sourced food for sale starting at 5:00 p.m. with the music beginning at 6:00 p.m.
About the band: Lavay Smith, born in 1967, is an American singer specializing in swing and blues. She formed the Red Hot Skillet Lickers in 1989 with Chris Siebert, a member of the washboard-jazz band Bo Grumpus. Lavay Smith tours with her eight-piece “little big band,” Lavay Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers, which includes a horn section, guitar, piano, bass, and drums. The band’s music is characterized by its accessible and danceable style, with Smith’s sultry vocals and pinup looks being a large part of the band’s appeal.
