About this event

Did you know you can raise chickens in cities? You can!

When you raise urban chickens, you can increase your garden’s health and produce even more of your own food. In this workshop, we’ll walk you through the steps to setting up your flock, review different coop designs, and provide an overview of chicken husbandry so you can keep your birds healthy. You also get to meet our expert instructors’ very own backyard chickens!

Instructors Jamie Chan and Blas Hererra tend a small homestead in San Francisco with their two daughters, complete with honey bees, chickens, greenhouse, mini orchard, and vegetables. Blas has a degree in environmental studies and a certificate in sustainable design from the Urban Permaculture Institute of San Francisco and Jamie is a certified Master Gardener.
