Event Details

Self-taught Berkeley sculptor Aimée Baldwin (first name’s pronounced “em-MEH”) brings her unique vision of taxidermy to the gallery of Paxton Gate’s Curiosities for Kids store. This event is the opening reception for the new show.

Paxton Gate’s known for its cacti, terrariums, fossils, bones and taxidermied animals but this is different.

Take a look at Baldwin’s Vegan Taxidermy work: From a distance her pieces look like real birds, but upon closer inspection one realizes that her amazing eye for detail has captured an anatomically perfect decoy. Each bird is actually handcrafted by the artist using wire, Styrofoam, crepe paper and clay.

Aimee donates a percentage of her sales to local organizations supporting wildlife education, rescue and preservation.
