Event Details

Saturday, November 28, 10am to 12pm Pacific time

Crowden’s annual free musical carnival for all ages, Community Music Day, will be presented online on Saturday, November 28, 10am to 12pm. Discover the joys of classical music from the comfort of home in this year’s online event!

Very First Concerts with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra: “Plus One”

San Francisco Chamber Orchestra and Crowden encourage audiences to get up and dance in Very First Concerts, a classical series designed with the very youngest listeners in mind. Each 20-minute concert features a central theme, short selections, hands-on activities, and of course beautiful music. This year’s Very First Concerts theme is “Plus One.” Make sure to have crayons and paper at the ready!

Instrument Petting Zoos: Meet the Instruments of an Orchestra

Usually Crowden’s entire campus transforms into our gigantic Instrument Petting Zoo, where kids and adults alike explore all the different instruments in a symphony orchestra. This year, we are proud to present a virtual version, featuring members of the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra in partnership with Berkeley Unified School District, Multicultural Music Fellowship, and Crowden pianist Elizabeth Dorman.

Musical Performances, East Bay Music Together, and more!

Virtual Community Music Day offers families a variety of fun ways to celebrate music. We’ll be presenting musical performances recorded in our Hoefer Auditorium throughout the event, featuring our talented young Crowden musicians. Families can dance and sing together in East Bay Music Together class demos. Play percussion at home with found objects, and learn to make your own instruments, and more!

Virtual Community Music Day will be presented on Crowden’s YouTube channel: youtube.com/crowdenmusiccenter or crowden.org/carnival.

Details, schedules, and craft supply lists will be posted on crowden.org/carnival.

We invite families across the globe to discover the joys of classical music at Crowden’s Virtual Community Music Day!
