“Litquake 2020” Virtual Festival (October 8-24)

San Francisco’s literary festival with author events, poets, activists and performers – 150 authors at 60 free online events. Lit Crawl will close the festival on 10/24 with writers from sister Lit Crawl cities, including Boston, Seattle, Los Angeles, Angers (France), Kells (Ireland), and Wellington (New Zealand)

Litquake, San Francisco’s annual literary festival, was founded by Bay Area writers in order to put on a week-long literary spectacle for book lovers, complete with cutting-edge panels, unique cross-media events, and hundreds of readings. Litquake seeks to foster interest in literature, perpetuate a sense of literary community, and provide a vibrant forum for Bay Area writing as a complement to the city’s music, film, and cultural festivals.

Accomplished authors, poets, activists and performers come together for the festival include Tom Perrotta (Election, The Walking Dead & Mrs Fletcher) Christopher Moore in conversation with Matt Ruff (Lovecraft Country) International Booker Prize nominee Fernanda Melchor; Kevin Kwan (Crazy Rich Asians & Sex and Vanity) in conversation with Amy Tan; Pamela Sneed (Funeral Diva); 2020 Pulitzer Prize recipient, poet Jericho Brown; Cockettes member and biographer Fayette Hauser; political correspondent for Time and author of “Pelosi” Molly Ball; Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn authors of the Pulitzer-winning Half the Sky & 2019’s bestseller, Tightrope—Americans Reach for Hope; former U.S. Poet Laureates Juan Felipe Herrera and Natasha Trethewey and current U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo who along with many others will take the mic and the stage in streamed events that celebrate writers and the written word.
