Event Details

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with The Mexican Museum of San Francisco. Learn about Mexico’s rich and complex history from yesteryear up to recent times through the perspective of many Mexican artists. Gain a deeper understanding about the country that brought chocolate, chiles, corn, chewing gum, anti-graffiti paint and color TV to the world. Mark your calendars, enrich your lives and discover the connections between Mexican history and you. This event will be presented by The Mexican Museum’s Director of Education, Diane Levy.

You will have the opportunity to view digital reproductions of engravings from the museum’s permanent collection included in the portfolio “450 Years of Struggle: Homage to the Mexican People”. This collection addresses diverse, social and political milestones in the country’s history from the fall of the great Tenochtitlán to the nationalization of the Mexican oil industry in the 1960s. Attendees will be fascinated by Mexico’s epic history from the mysteries of Mesoamerica, the collapse of the colonial period, tumultuous times, prosperous periods, lost lands, unifying uprisings and the modernization of Mexico.

About The Mexican Museum: The mission of The Mexican Museum is to voice the complexity and richness of Latino art and culture throughout the Americas, and to engage and facilitate dialogue among the broadest public.
