Event Details

In conjunction with the Asian Contemporary Art Consortium (ACAC-SF), Southern Exposure presents performances by three Bay Area artists that address stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding Asian-Americans. Mike Lai recreates a scene from Kung Fu genre films through sound and vocal performance. Kevin Simmonds previews an excerpt from ORIENT: a new anthropology, a genre-defiant performance that considers historical and contemporary Asian-Black relations. Jenifer Wofford’s comedic performance examines Filipina stereotypes from an absurdist perspective.

This program is part of the inaugural Asian Contemporary Art Week, organized by the Asian Contemporary Arts Consortium San Francisco. More information at www.asiancontemporarysf.org.
