Event Details

We Called Each Other Comrade, a ShapingSF talk marks 115 years of the Charles H Kerr Publishing Co., a mainstay of non-sectarian left publishing, and culture since its inception.

Please join Kerr Co. biographer Allen Ruff, and current Kerr Co. Publisher Penelope Rosemont in interrogating, analyzing and celebrating the previous 115, and looking forward to the next.

About the Speakers:

Allen Ruff is an independent writer, and researcher. His history of the Kerr Co. remains not only the definitive account of this remarkable publisher, but of the social movements and literature of which it was an integral part during the first few decades of the 20th century. Penelope Rosemont is a poet, surrealist, writer, activist and publisher.
