Why the West Rules -- for Now | Contemporary Historians at the Presidio | 2013

The emerging economic power of China and India threatens to end the West’s role as a superpower. Why, exactly, has the West dominated the globe for the past two hundred years, and how will the coming changes transform Western rule?

Ian Morris, Professor of History at Stanford University, has written Why the West Rules—For Now: The Patterns of History, and What they Reveal About the Future. It was named one of the best books of the year by The New York Times and The Economist.
