Westin St. Francis 110th Anniversary Free Historic Tour | SF

Throughout 2014, guests and locals will have the opportunity to learn about the Westin St. Francis’s rich history during complimentary tours held on the 21st of each month at 1:10 pm.
From 1:10-2:10 pm guests will also enjoy complimentary historic bites from the “The Hotel St. Francis Cook Book,” published in 1910 by the legendary Victor Hirtzler, the first chef of the hotel. One item per month such as Canapé Julia, Celery Victor and Crabmeat, à la Louise will be presented on a cart for all to enjoy.
These ambassador-led tours begin in the Landmark Lobby, and continue to the renowned Magneta Clock, and historic cases filled with relics that exemplify the story of the hotel.
Samples of items found in the history vitrines:
- Doorman’s Cap circa 1960s.
- Guestroom keys with stamped metal key fobs- circa 1920’s.
- Special occasion china.
- Official San Francisco Police Department mug shots of Hollywood’s highest paid actor Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle.
- Many charred items which were found after the 1906 Earthquake and Fire.
March 21, 2014 marks the 110th anniversary of the legendary Westin St. Francis, San Francisco’s most iconic hotel. Originally opened in 1904 to international acclaim, the hotel quickly became the center of the west coast’s social, theatrical, and business life.
