Windows for Harvey 2019: The Castro’s Harvey Milk Art Tribute | May 17-26

Windows for Harvey, present by Castro Merchants, the neighborhood merchant organization founded by Harvey Milk in 1973, puts on the annual “Windows for Harvey” with artists and business owners throughout the Castro who wanted to honor Harvey Milk (whose birthday is May 22) and his legacy by installing art in their store windows.

Start by visiting the Walgreens Community Window at 18th & Castro for more information. In 2019 there are 30+ windows celebrating Harvey.

Come to the Castro anytime during this week and use the map below as you stroll through the neighborhood to see all the Windows for Harvey.

The theme this year is “Soapbox”. As a community activist, Harvey famously stood on a wooden soapbox to address the gathered members of the community and, at times, to lead them to unite and fight for their rights.
