YouthBeat Film Showcase: Free Entry + Red Carpet (Grand Lake Theater)

Join us on Tuesday, May 19th for a night of fun, creativity, and community as we celebrate Oakland youth and the power of multi-media storytelling.

The YouthBeat Spring Showcase celebrates the creative work of 400+ Oakland public school students we serve throughout the school year. Our showcase highlights a dynamic range of student produced media featuring short films, animations, podcasts, and more. From comedy to critical issues, each production reflects the perspectives of our youth on life, creativity, and the topics that matter most to them.

Program schedule:

4:30pm – Doors Open

Walk the red carpet and snap a photo with your family and friends. Grab your snacks and take your seats for the show!

5:00pm–6:00pm – Take One: Emerging Voices

Join us to celebrate our up-and-coming storytellers, showcasing films and animations from students at the beginning of their creative journey.

6:00PM-7:00pm – Intermission

Interactive tables and games, chances to win free merch, and red carpet photo booth.

7:00pm-8:45pm – Take Two: Featured Presentation

Come see our accomplished filmmakers and animators, presenting standout short films that push creative boundaries and showcase confident storytelling, refined technique, and distinct artistic voices.
