Event Details

The Cat Party is a curated cat art show that welcomes both humans and felines taking place at the Lottie Rose Artist House in Oakland from 5-10 pm on Saturday, September 12, 2015.

The curator, Colin Hurley will be doing drawings of people as cats for free. There will be cat poetry read, rock music, cat video art, sidewalk drawing, bubbles, face painting, and maybe other stuff. Dancing is totally a good idea. There will be food. There is the means to make coffee and there will be some, but if people could also bring coffee to share that would be great because coffee and cats should be celebrated.

Bring your cat-loving self, BYO-cat (only if they like people of course) and leave your expectations at home.

The show is a sequel to 2014’s Let’s Hear It For The Cat. The curator says:

“Last year I was all about how perfect cats are in every way shape or form. This year as I curate this, I want the truth to be free. Whatever that means.

What are cats? Are they magical creatures? Who knows? They are very funny animals from my observations. Yeah, art history isn’t full enough with pictures of cats yet. There is something stupid to the idea of focusing only on cats and in doing this show and I want to be aware of everything.

Anyhow, this is a cat art show.”
