Toothpick Golden Gate Bridge

A crazy artist has made a 13-foot Golden Gate Bridge out of 30,000 toothpicks.

Check out a an exhibit presented by Ripley’s Believe It or Not  including a 13-foot model of the Golden Gate Bridge, constructed out of 30,000 toothpicks and glue in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco.

In addition you can view a 1/3rd scale model of a cable car made out of matchsticks and huge 3D portraits of Jerry Garcia and Carlos Santana made out of chicken wire.

The oddities on display include:

Toothpick model of the Golden Gate Bridge: Steven J. Backman created this 13-foot model of the Golden Gate Bridge out of 30,000 toothpicks and glue. It is open to the public during the Golden Gate Bridge’s 75th Anniversary, and will later be a part of the Ripley’s collection at Fisherman’s Wharf after the month of June.

Matchstick Cable Car: Reg Pollard created a 1/3 scale model of the San Francisco cable car out of over 270,000 matchsticks. It was his last piece before he passed away. San Francisco’s cable car is America’s only moving monument.

Wired for Sound: Jerry Garcia and Carlos Santana: Ivan Lovatt created these larger than life-size three dimensional portraits of rock and roll royalty out of chicken wire. These two sculptures are a part of his “California Summer of Love” series.
