America’s Cup: Louis Vuitton Cup & Summer of Racing | July 4 – August 30
The Louis Vuitton Cup, the America’s Cup Challenger Series, is used as the selection series to determine who will race the Defender in the America’s Cup Finals. This is a round-robin racing series throughout July and August.
Where to Watch
The America’s Cup Park is located on Pier 27/29 and the America’s Cup Village at Marina Green.Standing room is free from the shoreline, but tickets are required for bleacher seating. Screens will be located in both venues.
At the America’s Cup Park on Pier 27/29 you can also enjoy a free ride in the Flying on Water 4D AC72 simulator, learn about the science of sailing, meet athletes, relax in bean bags and listen to DJs in the Puma Yard, and play in the Kids’ Zone.
You can also view the races for free in person anywhere else along the Marina, Crissy Field, or from Angel Island.
Celebrate Fourth of July at the opening day of America’s Cup “Summer of Racing” at Piers 27/29 on July 4, 2013.
Entrance to America’s Cup Park is free, where a range of family activities will be available, including interactive exhibits featuring the science and history of the America’s Cup, the Flying on Water cinema where theater-goers experience the sensation of racing on a spectacular AC72 catamaran, and a Kids Area featuring sail hoists and other hands-on activities. Plus, catch athlete interviews and autograph sessions.
Please note, there is no racing on July 4th; this is simply opening day of the new America’s Cup Park. Racing begins on July 7, 2013.
July 4, 2013 – Opening Day

- 1:30pm-4:45pm AC45s at mooring off Promenade at Piers 27/29
- 2:00pm-2:30pm Poster signing session at Presentation Stage with America’s Cup Teams

- 3:00pm-4:30pm Opening Ceremony at America’s Cup Pavilion
- 4:45pm AC72 depart mooring

Opening Day Ceremony | July 4, 2013
On July 4, 2013, experience the Opening Day Ceremony for a celebration of international culture at the America’s Cup Pavilion located at Piers 27/29 (tickets are $10).
Up to 300 members of the four competing teams will take to the stage, along with entertainment from the competing nations of Italy (Luna Rossa Challenge), Emirates Team New Zealand, Sweden (Artemis Racing) and Oracle Team USA. Each team and nation will share unique cultural programming. $9 of the $10 ticket price will support the America’s Cup Healthy Ocean Project.
The America’s Cup Pavilion will host up to 20 concerts, family shows, community and business events, and comedy acts. During race days, the Pavilion will have race footage on the big screen along with commentary.
