thousand_santas[1]“Santarchy” is an annual city-wide Santas-only pubcrawl. This flash mob type event brings together hundreds of slightly sober people dressed in Santa costumes parading around the city, visiting landmarks (like walking down Lombard Street) drinking at bars and causing general mayhem. And just so you know, wearing a santa hat isn’t enough… get yourself a full-on santa suit.

2009 Event Details:

  • 12:12pm – All Santas meet at Civic Center Plaza (by the Christmas Tree)
then split up to one of three “Santa” zones and custom make your own santa city crawl:
  • 1pm to 3pm – Choose from Polk Gulch, Downtown, Mission District or Dance Party @ Triple Crown
  • 3pm to 5pm – Lower Haight, North Beach, Castro, or Triple Crown
  • 5pm to 7pm – Haight Ashbury, Pier 39, Church & Market
