2012 “Sing Up the Sun” Solstice Sing-Along | Oakland Hills

Sing in the East Bay hills to greet the sun on Solstice morning on December 21, 2012. Wear layers and bring drums, shakers, tambourines, flutes, tubas, etc. and maybe a thermos of your favorite hot beverage. If you have a favorite sun-song, bring lyrics to share; they usually do a spiral dance just after dawn.

Gather at the parking lot at Inspiration Point in Tilden Park about 6:40 am, to allow about 10 minutes to walk or roll to the site. At the West end of parking area, go around the gate and up the paved road beyond it, marked as Nimitz Way, which is a mild uphill grade, wheelchair/stroller accessible. You’ll see folks on a grassy clearing on your right (could be muddy & wet), with a beautiful view of the horizon to the East (if it’s clear, which could happen).

Steady rain cancels. Fog or misty rain, they’ll be there.
