It’s still early in the tax season, but if you file early, not only will the IRS love you and send you flowers (not really), but you’ll get your refund early.

The kind folks at Goodwill will help you file your tax return, so long as you fit the low-income profile, for free.

Free Help if:

You made $50,000 or less

What you need to bring with you:

Copy of 2011 tax return (if available)

Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) for each family member listed on the return

Proof of income ie. W-2s and 1099s

Account and routing numbers of a checking or savings account if you want your refund to be deposited that way. (It’s faster, but do you want the IRS to know everything?)
