Event Details

The 2010 Summer Sailstice San Francisco Festival is part of the global holiday of Summer Sailstice on one of the longest days of the year. Come to Treasure Island on June 19th for an all day festival celebrating sailing with free sail boat rides, live music, watch a boat building contest, dig for treasure in the sand, a solar noon celebration (when the sun is at it’s highest point in the sky for 2010) and more aquatic fun.

  • Free Sailboat Rides (11am – 4pm) Signups begin 11a st Treasure Isle Marina Dock. Rides are limited and are first come – first serve,. Free, but suggested donation of $10 requested
  • Boatbuilding contest: You’ve never seen anything like this. Watch teams build boats from the ground up starting in the morning and try to launch and row them in the afternoon.
  • Sailstice Festival World Music: You’ll be entertained by five bands spanning folk songs, traditional Hawaiian and Polynesian performances, sea chanteys, and a classic-rock tribute band.
  • Boats on display: At dock, you’ll be able to tour the sailboats from Corsair, Hanse, Catalina, Island Packet, Beneteau,  and the 100 year old Master Mariner Classic, ‘Polaris’.
  • Sailstice Noon Ceremony: Solar Noon is at 13:10:52. The sun will be no higher in the sky for another year.
  • Sailstice Sunset Ceremony: Sunset at 8:34p – totaling 14 hours, 44 minutes of sunlight

Getting There

By car. Treasure Island is in the middle of San Francisco Bay and is reached via the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge (Interstate 80). Whether coming from the East Bay or San Francisco, be sure to stay in the left lane and be prepared to exit at slow speed for Treasure Island. Proceed down the hill toward Treasure Island, pass the Marina, and continue through the now unused guard gate. Make your first right turn onto California Avenue. Event parking will be on your right and is free. The Google Map may be used to obtain driving directions to the indicated parking area.

By public transportation. Treasure Island is served by San Francisco Muni bus number 108, with a direct connection from the TransBay Terminal at First and Howard Streets in San Francisco.
