CANCELED – Spontaneous Storytelling: True Stories & Free Drinks for Storytellers | SF

EVENT UPDATE: There are no upcoming events known for this event series - please check the organizer website for any updates.

This event series is now canceled

Spontaneous Storytelling (featured on KALW radio) is a different kind of storytelling show that combines the fun of meeting new people with hearing and telling true stories.

“Only in SF” is a night of true stories told by ordinary people. Like you. Come to share a true story from your life, or just listen and laugh. From Muni to Market Street; to commuting, tech, and social media. Stories about dating, apartment-hunting, roommates, and relationships. Come share your true story about “Only in SF” with us!

How it works:

The event starts with a social game, then select several different themes, then take turns telling stories until you run out of time. Every storyteller wins a free drink just for telling a true personal story.

The social game makes it easy to get up on stage because you’ve just met people in the bar. It’s optional, but highly recommended. The answers from the game become part of the show. Then it’s time for storytelling. Put your name in the hat for a chance to tell a true, 5-minute story from your own life. Or just listen and laugh.

The Rules: no reading or notes allowed; stories must be true, about you, and 5 minutes or less. We’ll have a volunteer timer to help you stick to the time limit.

Just tell them at the door you heard about it on SF Funcheap and get in for $5 instead of $10.
