It’s over 100° today around The Bay. We think anytime is a great time for ice cream, but especially today.

Cool off with a scoop from these iconic Bay Area ice cream shops. We’ve confirmed they’re open.

Mitchell’s Ice Cream
688 San Jose Ave, San Francisco, CA
Hours: Fri & Sat: 11 am to 11 pm; Sun-Thu: 11 am – 10 pm

The family-run ice cream parlor is a San Francisco institution, first opened in 1953.  From avocado to Halo Halo, Ube-Macapuno to French Custard Vanilla; they offer over 40 flavors daily with something for everyone. Plus, you can order at the front door.

 

Fentons
4226 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA | 11 am  – 10 pm
1669 E Monte Vista Ave, Vacaville, CA | Noon – 8 pm

Founded in Oakland, CA in 1894, Fentons Creamery is a landmark institution that has served generations its famous handcrafted ice creams and sauces. They’re most famous for their ice cream sundaes, especially their Black & Tan Sundae, made with one of the many ice cream flavors invented by Melvin Fenton – Toasted Almond. Vacaville is open for patio & dining room seating (with social distancing). Order online for delivery and takeout/curbside pickup (Oakland & Vacaville locations).

Tucker’s Ice Cream
1349 Park Street, Alameda, CA
Hours: Noon – 8 pm

Tucker’s is an Alameda favorite, serving up old fashioned ice cream in Alameda historic Park Street shopping district for over 70 years. They feature over 30 flavors daily. They’re open for takeout.

 

Palo Alto Creamery
566 Emerson Street, Palo Alto, CA
Hours: 8 am – 9 pm

Palo Alto’s adorable retro diner and ice cream counter first opened in 1923. They’re open for takeout and outdoor dining.

San Francisco Creamery
1370 Locust St, Walnut Creek, CA
Hours: Tue-Fri: 2 – 8 pm; Sat & Sun: Noon – 9 pm

The San Francisco Creamery makes all of their own ice cream on site, including their cookies, brownies, hot fudge, chocolate syrup, caramel, and butterscotch. Fun Fact: you might have seen this ice cream parlor on TV; it was featured on an episode of Man v. Food for their famous Kitchen Sink challenge. They’re open for outdoor dining and take out (they even have a convenient outdoor takeout window).
