Event Details

“So come the storms of winter and then the birds in spring again / I have no fear of time / For who knows how my love grows?” – Who Knows Where the Time Goes by Nina Simone

As Long as Love is Near is an exploration of transcendental love and nurturing; a physical landscape of sensations which exceed time, understanding, and material reality, but are nevertheless real—inexplicably felt, palpably moving, and ever enduring. This dance work studies intimacy as an ethereal entity—an intangible, binding force between two bodies coaxing softness, tenderness, and flexibility. While hardness and strength are often championed, this work suggests pliancy and weakness as expressions of the freshness of being.
