Free Samoan Community Memorial w/ 20+ Musicians (4 Star Theater)

This is a public memorial for Faamuamua Gago, late proud Samoan mother of Jeffrey Wright, a local creative, musician, and community builder. At this memorial, we will tell the story of Mua’s life, coming to the USA from Western Samoa, highlight Samoan-American heritage, and open the floor to friends and family to share.

At the end of the event, Jeff, alongside 20+ musicians from from the bay area local-music scene and beyond, will perform a large-scale composed piece called “If You Were Here Now”.

We encourage anyone who knew Mua, knows the family, has or had a mom, wants to learn about Samoan-American people, or just wants to be part of this deeply important community ritual to attend.
