Carve San Francisco: Sandcastle Building Contest | Presidio

Come out to see some outrageous sand art at Carve San Francisco, NoCal’s inaugural international sand sculpting competition and ode to sand, surf and beach culture on October 15-20, 2013.

Watch about a dozen teams from around the world to sculpt 225 tons of sand into astounding and intricate works of art over five days.

In addition to watching the sculpting, they’ve set up a “beach” bar in the parking lot, there’s free smart car test drives, free samples from sponsors like Longboard Winery, Findandia Vodka, Kona Brewing, and Dole, rafffles, free yoga classes, surf films, live surf art, Off the Grid food trucks and more.

Pound Up Day | Carve San Francisco: Sandcastle Building Contest | Presidio

October 16, 2013 is Carve Pound Up Day. From 7 am to 7 pm, Carvers build wooden forms, pour sand into the forms, and start layering water and sand to create their blocks.
