Re-imagine the hilly center of San Francisco as an interlinked open space. Delve into hidden tracts of overgrown San Francisco.

Drawing on archival photographs and the dictates of terrain and hydrology, explorers of hidden open space have opened up the middle of the city to a network of volunteer-built trails. In the process, they have discovered that imagination and perseverance can do as much, if not more, than cars to bring us away from the urban world and into closer contact with the native wonders of the woods and hills. The great outdoors is closer than you think.

Speakers from Sutro Stewards & SF Urban Riders, Rezz, John Seagrave, Nick Bear & renowned mapmakers of Pease Press Cartography will contribute to this event, illustrated with historic & current-day photography of volunteers, native plants and salamanders.

Celebrate Spring & Earth Day at Sunset Library.
