The Bay Area Ridge Trail has now reached 400 miles long, thanks to the recent addition of 3.5 miles in El Sereno Open Space Preserve.

After more than 30 years since the first dedication, there are now 400 miles of Ridge Trail open and ready to explore.

This section of trail offers stunning ridgeline views overlooking the Lexington Reservoir and Diablo Range.

Parking is extremely limited and shade is minimal, so get an early start for the best El Sereno experience. Learn more about this trail and the others that helped us reach 400 miles at https://ridgetrail.org/400-miles/

Thirty-four years ago, a small band of visionaries dreamed up a world-class regional trail, one that could take you on an epic adventure around the entire Bay Area without ever stepping off the trail. Back then, accomplishing such a vision may have seemed nearly impossible, but with two-thirds of the Ridge Trail now complete, it is no longer a question of “if” it will be completed, but “when.”
