Thanks to Eater San Francisco for sharing the news that San Francisco’s legendary roast duck & pig takeaway joint Hing Lung Company has departed San Francisco Chinatown after 43 years at 1261 Stockton Street.

Hing Lung Company shut up shop in Chinatown on April 7, 2024, but thankfully, it’s not your last chance to get their Cantonese-style roast duck or char siu. Owners and brothers, Eric and Simon Cheung, who took over the business from their father Wing in the 1990s, will be relocating the eatery to 927 Post Street in Tenderloin in the former Meraki Market space.

The owners decided to move due to a rent increase and hazardous, unsafe building conditions that the landlord refused to address. Hing Lung Company hopes to open its new spot by the end of June 2024.

If you don’t want to wait that long for their beloved Canto BBQ, thankfully, the brothers have a new dine-in restaurant, Go Duck Yourself, which is opening at 439 Cortland Avenue in Bernal Heights. The restaurant will open on April 10, 2024 with takeout and delivery service to start, and is slated to open for full sit-down service on April 30, 2024.
