Thanks to Hoodline for sharing the unfortunate news that Harvey’s, located at 500 Castro Street, is closing its doors for good after 27 years.

Harvey’s bar and restaurant opened in 1996 in memory of Harvey Milk. Before Harvey’s, the bar and restaurant was the iconic Elephant Walk in the 1970s and ’80s.

To say goodbye, the bar is going out with a bang with “One Last Night with Friends,” featuring a marathon of performances on Saturday, January 28 from 4 pm to 2 am. All the proceeds will benefit the staff of Harvey’s. No food will be served.

It’s not yet been announced what’s next for the space.
