San Jose’s Children’s Discovery Museum is reopening their outdoor play area, “Bill’s Backyard,” on Friday, March 5, 2021. Bill’s Backyard opens to the general public with two play sessions with limited capacity.

Bill’s Backyard allows children to discover the natural world as they have fun scaling the Tree Climber, scurrying through the tunnel to the LookOut Tower, and scooping gravel, sand, and dirt in the Dig Pit.

There will be two play sessions every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with a one hour break between sessions for deep cleaning and sanitizing. The morning and afternoon sessions are two and a half hours each.

  • 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Reservations are required for everyone in your party, including members. Attendance is capped at 25% capacity to honor social distancing guidelines and ensure a safe and quality experience.

Admission is $5 for everyone 1 year old and over.
