Comedians with Criminal Records

Be our guest at Funcheap’s brand new January comedy show at Cobb’s
By - posted 1/1/2015 No Comment

Comedians with Criminal Records is a brand new unique showcase of comics who’ve had troubles with the law in the past. This may be the only show in America where if you don’t laugh, you might get stabbed (just kidding… we hope).

Before each set, you’ll get the back-story of the comedian and the crime they committed and how stand-up comedy helped get them back on the straight and narrow. Comedy is truly the best therapy. Crimes from comedians on this showcase include possession, vandalism, grand theft and more. Hosted By Stroy Moyd of #HellaFunny

Keith D’souza
(Indecent Exposure)

Keith D. is a funny comedian, published writer, and mediocre actor. He has been on shows with Dave Chappelle, Kyle Kinane, Ron Funches, and performed in actual comedy clubs like the Hollywood Improv, UCB Theater (LA), and the San Francisco Punchline. His raucous style of “punk rock comedy” has won the hearts and drinks of many audience members.

Jabari Davis
(Grand Theft)

Hailing out of Altadena, CA, in 2008 Jabari Davis took the San Francisco Comedy community by storm, with humor that mixes down and dirty street smarts with thought provoking intellect. With a style that interweaves true-life failures backed by undeniable logic, his comedic dialogue transcends not only cultural barriers, but social classes as well.

Jabari has performed in some of the the nations biggest Comedy clubs including The Comedy Store (Hollywood, La Jolla Ca), The Ice House Comedy Club (Pasadena, Ca), San Francisco Punchline, Sacramento Punchline, Cobb’s Comedy Club (San Francisco), Carolines on Broadway (New York City), and Gotham Comedy Club (New York City) to name a few.

David Gborie
(Drunk in Public)

David Gborie is very insecure. He makes up for that by telling hilarious jokes. He’s based in San Francisco but has performed all over the country. He has participated in the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the San Francisco Comedy and Burrito Festival, the Noise Pop Music Festival, The Seattle International Comedy Festival, and SF Sketchfest. The kid lives large.

Matt Lieb
(Possession)

Matt Lieb is a comedian, writer, actor and street musician/Bone Thugs-N-Harmony cover band. He was named “one of my all-time favorite Bay Area performers” by the award-winning SF blog Courting Comedy and described as “extremely talented, charmingly dark and genuinely pleasant.” He won 2nd place at the 2004 KZSC Comedy Competition, but the guy who won 1st place no longer does comedy so Matt basically won 1st place. He also won 1st place at the 2013 Rooster-T-Feathers Comedy Competition, which was very validating for him. Matt Lieb has opened for many legendary performers including W. Kamau Bell, Gilbert Gottfried, Jeff Ross, Rory Scovel, Ryan Papazian and 3rd Eye Blind.

Hosted by Stroy Moyd
(Vandalism)

Stroy Moyd is a 27 year old comedian from Oakland, CA. He’s opened for the likes of Dave Chappelle, Tracy Morgan, the Wayans Brothers, Hannibal Burress and more. He is a 3 time winner of the Fresh Faces Comedy Competition at the LaughFactory in Hollywood, CA and can be seen at the SF SketchFest in 2013 and numerous comedy festivals around the country. Stroy runs an independent comedy production company called #HellaFunny where he and fellow comedy comrades produce live comedy shows around the Bay Area.
