Thanks to Mission Local for letting us know about the free COVID-19 testing for Mission residents.

Through a partnership between UCSF, the Latino Task Force for COVID-19, and SF Department of Public Health, they will be offering free COVID-19 testing for all persons age 4 years and older in part of the Mission.

This area includes approximately 5,700 people living between South Van Ness and Harrison and Cesar Chavez and 23rd Streets.

Community COVID-19 Testing | April 25-28

WHAT: SF Department of Public Health UCSF, the Latino Task Force launched a massive campaign to test as many residents as possible in an area with some 5,700 residents who live between South Van Ness and Harrison Streets from Cesar Chavez to 23rd Street, according to flyers distributed in the testing area.

There are two types of tests:

  • PCR test
Am I sick with COVID 19 right now?
The PCR test determines whether a person is actively infected with COVID-19 (ie: is Positive or Negative)
  • Antibody Test
Was I sick with COVID-19 in the past?
The antibody test determines if a person has been infected and developed antibodies against the disease

WHERE: The testing sites will be at Garfield Park, Ninos Unidos Park, Flynn Elementary School, and Cesar Chavez Elementary school. At-home testing for homebound residents will be on April 29.

WHO: All community members who are 4 years old and older who live in the study area are encouraged to attend, regardless of symptoms.

WHY: People in the Mission have been heavily affected by COVID-19. Community-based testing will provide important information to people on whether they have COVID-19 now or had it in the past and will help us understand how to stop the spread of the virus. This a great opportunity for us to protect our elders, our families, and to contribute to community efforts to fight this pandemic.

HOW: Schedule an appointment through pre-registration

  • Registration opens online April 21
  • Pre-registration is encouraged to minimize the line.
  • Testing Days: April 25-28, 9 am – 5 pm. Come to your testing site during your appointment time.
  • On-site registration and drop-in testing available for those who did not pre-register.
