A mini version of San Francisco’s 1939 “Worlds Fair” is coming to Treasure Island for just one day only on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

Dan and Armando Vargas, master model builders, are creating an exquisite miniature model of the Golden Gate International Exposition. The illuminated model is almost complete and the Vargas brothers are eager for Treasure Island Museum members and supporters to see it before its permanent installation in a private home. View more information about the exhibit at the Treasure Island Museum.

The model will be in the lobby of Building One for one day, Saturday, January 20th from 9:30-10:30 and 11:30-3:00, prior to and after a related program. (It will not be available during the program, from 10:30 to 11:30 am).

View more information about the program that day, The Life and Legacy of Adaline Kent. Kent created sculptures for the Golden Gate International Exposition; they are reproduced in miniature as part of the Vargas model. This is a pay-what-you-will program with free tickets available, but you can support our service to the community by opting for the $10 ticket or adding a donation at checkout.
